Do the Happy Dance!!

It's official - I am now an Art doc student as of the spring 2010 semester. I am very happy and extremely relieved to have that decision made and that weight off my shoulders. I will be much happier in the art department and will be treated much better. The art department believes that students are here to study - what a novel concept - and not be slaves to the department. Yesterday was my birthday, so this is a great birthday present and something to be thankful for as I head to Vegas for Thanksgiving break. Woo hoo!!

A Good Week, For a Change

This was a good week for me, in spite of having an added project thrown in the mix for the department. I met with the art PhD advisor Wednesday, left him my admissions packet, and heard yesterday that the admissions committee had unanimously approved my app and it's moving on to the next level. I fully expect to be in the art department next semester and to know by the end of the week, or at least before Thanksgiving break - woo hoo!

The second good thing: I got an autographed poster from Tectonic as a thank you for staging "The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later" at Tech. I have Moises Kaufman's signature which is way cool & very exciting!!! Of course, everyone else signed it as well, but Kaufman is one of my idols so I'm uber-jazzed about that. And yes, I will be getting that framed. :)

Last night was the read-through for the RROAPS plays and it was great to hear my play read aloud. I still have goosebumps because the actors were so great and really did a fabulous job of bringing it to life. Here's hoping the production will go as well and I have a director who gets it. I've already requested that whoever directs it be female because that's important for this piece. We'll see what happens.

And lastly, but certainly not least, it's basketball season - woo hoo! Both the women and men play today so I'm going. I should be working on projects, but I really need a break. There's always tomorrow and Monday, which is my really open day, to get stuff done. Putting together my presentation for marketing will not take very long - I'll probably do it tonight while I'm "watching" Tech play OSU after basketball - LOL.

It was really nice to have a week that was consistently full of good things for a change. I enjoyed it!
